Google Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a (5G) Officially Announced

Google Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a (5G)

Google announced the Pixel 4a in August and the company did mention there will be 5G phones coming in the next event. Well, there you have it — introducing the Google Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a (5G).

Google Pixel 5

The Pixel 5 sports a 6-inch Full HD+ OLED Smooth Display with 90Hz refresh rate. Powering the phone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, pretty much similar to the OnePlus Nord. The phone also comes with a Titan M security chip and the Pixel Imprint fingerprint sensor, making it Google’s most secure phone ever.

In terms of camera, the phone comes with a dual-camera setup on the back — 12.2MP dual-pixel main with OIS + 16MP ultra-wide lens. Selfie wise, it has an 8MP front-facing camera.

The phone packs a 4,080mAh battery that also supports 18W wired fast charging. The phone body is made of aluminum, but it still supports Qi wireless charging, surprisingly.

Google Pixel 4a (5G)

As for the Pixel 4a (5G), it’s not just the 5G version of the original Pixel 4a but shares some parts from the Pixel 5. The phone comes with a larger 6.2-inch Full HD+ OLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate. Powering it is the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor as the Pixel 5, but remains at 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.

The camera is similar to the Pixel 5 as well — 12.2MP dual-pixel main with OIS + 16MP ultra-wide rears and 8MP front-facing camera. The phone does have a 3.5mm audio jack, which the Pixel 5 doesn’t.

The phone packs a smaller 3,885mAh battery that also supports 18W wired fast charging, no wireless charging, though.

Google promises both phones will get three years of software and security updates. When you purchase a Pixel 4a (5G) or Pixel 5, you’ll also get Stadia and YouTube Premium trial for three months, 100 GB of storage with Google One for three months, and Google Play Pass and Gold/Silver Status on Play Points. The Pixel 5 retails at $699, while the Pixel 4a (5G) retails at $499, but it seems that Malaysia will be left out once again.
