The standout feature of the new series is GIGABYTE’s exclusive T-Guard active thermal monitoring technology, developed specifically to address the safety concerns surrounding modern 12V-2×6 power connectors. As GPU performance continues to scale upward, stable power delivery has become more critical than ever, particularly with high-end graphics cards that demand consistent and reliable power under heavy loads.
Unlike traditional passive protection methods, T-Guard introduces a more intelligent and proactive approach by integrating precision thermistors directly into the 12V-2×6 connector. This allows the PSU to monitor connector temperatures in real time and respond before serious damage occurs.
The system operates through what GIGABYTE describes as a three-stage protection process: Detect, Protect, and Reconnect. During the Detect phase, built-in sensors continuously monitor temperature changes within the connector, instantly identifying signs of overheating caused by loose cables, poor contact, or abnormal power loads. If dangerous temperatures are detected, the Protect stage activates by intelligently reducing power specifically to the GPU, helping prevent connector burnout while allowing the rest of the system to remain operational. This is especially useful in preventing sudden shutdowns that could potentially damage storage devices or interrupt important work. Finally, the Reconnect phase allows users to switch to integrated graphics, if available, to continue accessing the system, save important files, and safely shut down for inspection.
