Finding a laptop that can comfortably handle university work, content creation, and gaming is often easier said than done. Most devices tend to excel in one area while making compromises in others. The GIGABYTE AERO X16 aims to bridge that gap by combining a lightweight design with powerful hardware, making it an attractive option for students who need a single machine for work and play.
Design

At first glance, the AERO X16 doesn’t resemble a typical performance laptop. Instead of aggressive styling and oversized dimensions, GIGABYTE has opted for a clean and minimalist design that feels equally at home in a lecture hall, library, or café. Measuring just 16.7mm thick and weighing approximately 1.9kg, the laptop remains highly portable despite packing powerful internals.
The chassis features a premium anodized and sandblasted finish that gives it a refined matte texture, while the subtle iridescent nameplate adds a touch of sophistication without being overly flashy. Buyers can choose between Space Gray and Lunar White finishes, both of which offer a more premium appearance than many gaming-focused alternatives.

Despite its slim profile, connectivity remains one of the AERO X16’s strengths. The laptop comes equipped with a comprehensive selection of ports, reducing the need for external adapters. Users will find a USB4 Type-C port supporting up to 40Gbps bandwidth, DisplayPort output, and Power Delivery 3.0 charging, alongside HDMI 2.1, USB Type-A ports, and a built-in RJ45 Ethernet port. This makes the device particularly useful for students and creators who frequently transfer large files or connect to network-attached storage systems.

For everyday productivity, the Golden Curve Keyboard delivers a comfortable typing experience. The enlarged dish-shaped keycaps and 1.7mm key travel provide satisfying feedback while maintaining quiet operation, making it suitable for long writing sessions and note-taking during lectures.
Display

One of the standout features of the AERO X16 is its 16-inch WQXGA display. Featuring a modern 16:10 aspect ratio and ultra-thin bezels on all four sides, the panel achieves an impressive 92% screen-to-body ratio, providing a more immersive viewing experience.
The display is factory calibrated and Pantone Validated, ensuring accurate colour reproduction straight out of the box. This makes it well-suited for creative workloads such as photo editing, graphic design, and video production. During content creation tasks, applications such as DaVinci Resolve feel responsive, while the high-resolution panel offers plenty of workspace for multitasking.
Gaming and entertainment also benefit from the display’s 165Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time, and Adaptive Sync support, resulting in smooth visuals and reduced screen tearing during fast-paced gameplay. TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light certification is another welcome addition, helping to reduce eye strain during extended study or work sessions.
Performance

Under the hood, the AERO X16 is powered by the AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 processor, featuring eight cores and 16 threads with boost speeds reaching up to 5GHz. Graphics duties are handled by the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU with 8GB of GDDR7 memory and up to 85W Total Graphics Power.
The hardware combination provides more than enough performance for demanding productivity applications, content creation workloads, and modern games. AI capabilities are also a major focus, thanks to the integrated AMD XDNA NPU delivering up to 50 TOPS alongside NVIDIA’s Blackwell architecture, which pushes total AI performance significantly further.
Gaming performance is where the AERO X16 truly flexes its muscle. Titles such as Cyberpunk 2077 can run at exceptionally high frame rates with ray tracing and DLSS enabled, showcasing the capabilities of the RTX 5070 Laptop GPU. NVIDIA’s DLSS technology plays a significant role here, dramatically boosting performance while maintaining visual quality. In ray-tracing benchmarks, enabling DLSS can transform otherwise demanding workloads into a much smoother gaming experience.
Keeping temperatures under control is GIGABYTE’s WINDFORCE Infinity cooling system. The cooling solution incorporates dual 12V fans alongside the company’s 3D VortX airflow design to efficiently dissipate heat from critical components. Even under sustained workloads, the laptop remains comfortable to use while maintaining stable performance.
For quieter environments, the laptop’s GiMATE software introduces a 0dB Ambience mode that automatically disables fan noise during light workloads. This allows the system to operate silently in classrooms, libraries, or meeting rooms without unnecessary distractions.
Local AI Intelligence with GiMATE
As a Copilot+ PC, the AERO X16 also integrates AI-focused features through GIGABYTE’s GiMATE assistant. Running locally on the device, GiMATE allows users to switch between performance profiles using voice commands through the “Press and Speak” function.
Creator Mode allocates maximum system resources for demanding editing and rendering tasks, while Game Mode prioritises gaming performance. Users can also activate Power Saving or Meeting modes to reduce power consumption and fan noise when maximum performance is not required.
Battery Life

Battery life is supported by a sizeable 76Wh battery, allowing the AERO X16 to comfortably handle a full day of lectures and productivity tasks under moderate usage. Users can further extend battery life by switching to the integrated AMD graphics through the built-in MUX Switch when dedicated GPU performance is unnecessary.
When it is time to recharge, support for USB-C Power Delivery 3.0 enables convenient charging through compatible universal chargers. Fast charging can restore the battery to 50% capacity in approximately 30 minutes, making it easy to top up between classes or meetings.
