ASUS Zenfone 8 Series Goes Official

The all-new ASUS Zenfone 8 series is here! ASUS today has officially announced the Zenfone 8 series, which consists of the Zenfone 8 and Zenfone 8 Flip. The Zenfone 8 is a super-compact device, while the Zenfone 8 Flip is a photography-focused device.

The ASUS Zenfone 8 series is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor with up to 16GB RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. Yes, you get the same flagship processor even in the compact Zenfone 8! Both phones feature a Full HD+ Samsung AMOLED display. The main differences are the size and the refresh rate — the Zenfone 8 has a 5.9-inch 120Hz hole-punch screen, while the Zenfone 8 Flip has a 6.67-inch 90Hz screen without the hole-punch camera. Both phones have an in-display fingerprint sensor too.

In terms of camera, the Zenfone 8 has a dual-camera setup on the back — 64MP Sony IMX686 main camera with OIS + 12MP Sony IMX363 ultra-wide camera that supports 4cm macro shot. It has a 12MP Sony IMX663 selfie camera that features Dual PD autofocus.

As for the Zenfone 8 Flip, it comes with a motorized flip-up module with an evolved triple-camera system, so you can use it for front-facing or rear-facing photography/video recording. It has the same two cameras as the compact Zenfone 8, and the third camera is an 8MP telephoto lens that offers 3x optical zoom.

The Zenfone 8 packs a 4,000mAh battery, while the Zenfone 8 Flip has a 5,000mAh battery. Both phones support Quick Charge 4.0 and PD Charging.

The ASUS Zenfone 8 series runs on Android 11 with ZenUI 8. According to ASUS, ZenUI 8 features mindful improvements to stock Android, featuring One-handed Mode, Dark Mode, System Mode, and AudioWizard for an unrivaled user experience.

Unlike the ZenFone 7 series, the ASUS Zenfone 8 series will be launched in Malaysia real soon. According to ASUS Malaysia, that’ll be by the end of May. Stay tuned as we will be sharing out more updates on the local launch.
