The wait is over! The ASUS ZenFone 5 and ZenFone Max Pro (M1) are now officially launched in Malaysia.
ASUS ZenFone 5
The ZenFone 5 sports a 6.2-inch (2,246 x 1,080) Super IPS 19:9 display with DCI-P3 support. Additionally, it also has a notch at the top of the display, which is 26% smaller than the iPhone X. Powering the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB expandable storage.
In terms of camera, the ZenFone 5 packs a dual-camera setup — a 12MP Sony IMX363 sensor with large 1.4µm pixels, f/1.8 wide-aperture lens, and OIS + an 8MP 120° wide-angle secondary camera. It features AI Scene Detection for 16 different scenes and objects, AI Photo Learning, Real-time Portrait, and Real-time Beautification. Selfie wise, there’s an 8MP f/2.0 front camera.

ASUS ZenFone Max Pro (M1)
The ZenFone Max Pro (M1) is an affordable device running on pure Android 8.1 Oreo. The phone sports a 6-inch Full View 18:9 Full HD+ display, without the notch. Powering the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor with up to 6GB RAM and 64GB expandable storage.
In terms of camera, the device packs up to a 16MP f/2.0 + 5MP (depth sensor) dual-rear camera. Selfie wise, there’s up to a 16MP front camera with LED flash. The device comes with a massive 5,000mAh battery, which provides long-lasting battery life.
Pricing and Availability
The ZenFone 5 is officially retailed at RM1,299 and available in Meteor Silver and Midnight Blue. The device will be available for pre-order exclusively at Lazada on 4th June. As for the ZenFone 5Z, ASUS Malaysia stated that the device will be available in July.
The ZenFone Max Pro (M1) will be available in Deepsea Blue & Titanium Grey. In terms of pricing and availability, the device will be available in three variants:
- 3GB RAM + 32GB storage: RM699 (Flash Sales on 1st, 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th June for RM599)
- 4GB RAM + 64GB storage: RM849 (Exclusive pre-order at Lazada on 2nd & 3rd June for RM799)
- 6GB RAM + 64GB storage: RM999
Furthermore, the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage model will be having another flash sales from July retailing at RM649.
