ASUS had recently announced a slew of different devices for its popular lineup like the Zenbook and Vivobook. This time it’s their gaming division, ROG that is receiving an update during their “For Those Who Dare: Boundless” virtual event.
At this event, there are two major highlights, which were the ROG Strix SCAR 17 Special Edition and the ROG Flow X16.
ROG Strix SCAR 17 Special Edition
The ROG Strix Scar 17 Special Edition features a custom vapor chamber, with liquid metal applied on both the CPU and GPU for better thermal exchange. The laptop also has a ‘Dynamic Boost’ mode that can boost the laptop to a maximum of 65W of CPU TDP and 175W of GPU TGP. As for the display, the Scar 17 offers either an FHD 360Hz or a QHD 240Hz display panel, both having a low 3ms response time. The laptop is also able to be fitted with up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM and a PCIe Gen 4 storage in a RAID 0 array.
ROG Flow X16
Next up is the ROG Flow X16, this device is a 16-inch thin and light convertible laptop. This device is powered by an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, packed in a small, thin, and relatively ‘light’ form factor. Like its sibling the Flow X13, it also comes with the proprietary XG Mobile port if a person wants to use an external GPU. The ROG Flow X16 features a Nebula HDR display, which is a QHD with 165Hz of refresh rate Mini LED panel, the panel itself is capable of 1100 nits of peak brightness and a 100% DCI-P3 gamut range.
