Introduction

It’s finally coming! The new ASUS ROG Phone II is coming to Malaysia! Just recently, ASUS Malaysia had a local briefing regarding the upcoming gaming beast by the Taiwanese company. Before we begin, ASUS Malaysia did send an infographic over about the variant of ROG Phone II that we are getting:

As you can see from the infographic above, the variant that we are getting offers more storage and better content in the box. Kudos to ASUS Malaysia for that!

Upgrades

For this year’s ROG Phone II, ASUS has highlighted a few upgrades over the predecessor:

Accessories

Just like the first ROG Phone, the ROG Phone II also comes with a few accessories, and it seems that ASUS is planning to bundle the phone with the accessories, which comes in a pretty nice luggage bag.

Some accessories from the previous generation can still be used, some don’t:

You will be thrilled to know that some of the accessories actually are included in the box, more on it later.

Unboxing

Here comes the unboxing part! Yup, GadgetMTech (not GadgetMatch!), kudos to the folks from ASUS Malaysia for mentioning that! Just like the previous generation, the ROG Phone II has a six prism design packaging, which still looks unique.

It still has the same labels such as the phone model name and the “ROG” logo. Additionally, the overall design language still the same as the predecessor.

As mentioned earlier, the phone actually comes with the Aero Case and AeroActive Cooler II in the box, just like its predecessor. Besides the additional accessories, the box contains the phone, USB-C to USB-C cable, 30W ROG HyperCharge power adapter, user guide & warranty, SIM ejector tool, footstand, and rubber flap for the side-mounted connector.

First Impressions

The Aero Case actually did a great job in protecting the phone, I did accidentally drop the phone with the case on, and it didn’t leave a SCAR. (No pun intended!)

The overall design language is pretty similar to its predecessor, though the only noticeable difference is the longer screen with less bezel. The back of the phone also looks cleaner now with the removal of the rear fingerprint sensor, since ASUS has opted for the in-display fingerprint sensor.

The phone houses a wide variant of connectivity ports, including the side-mounted connector on the left, power and volume rocker on the right, and USB-C port & 3.5mm audio jack on the bottom. Yes, it still has the 3.5mm audio jack!

Launch Date

The ASUS ROG Phone II will be making its official debut in Malaysia on 16th October 2019, the pricing remains unknown, though. However, ASUS Malaysia will be launching two variants — Elite and Ultimate Editions. Stay tuned as we are currently working on the full review!
