ASUS ExpertCenter D7 SFF D700SA Review

Introduction

The COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing and it seems that many people have already got used to the work-from-home situation. This is the ASUS ExpertCenter D7 SFF D700SA, a commercial desktop built by ASUS. Targeted for commercial and general workforce users in the market, you can even custom pre-order the desktop if you wish to upgrade the specs.

ASUS ExpertCenter D7 SFF D700SA Specs

Design

This is actually a compact desktop that doesn’t take too much of your space. Whether to place it vertically or horizontally, it is easier to fit this desktop than a PS5, obviously, these two are built for different purposes. ASUS states that the desktop meets MIL-STD-810G US military standards and offers a highly expandable-chassis, ensuring long-term reassurance and easy future upgrades for professionals.

The front of the desktop houses the DVD-RW optical drive, power button, microphone & headphone combo jack, six USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C, and two card readers. Sadly, it doesn’t have a Thunderbolt port.

As for the back, it has four USB 2.0 ports, a PS/2 (Keyboard) port, a PS/2 (Mouse) port, an HDMI 1.4 port, a DisplayPort, an RJ45 LAN port, a COM Port (Serial Port), a Parallel Port, a D-sub port, and three audio jacks.

If you need Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, it actually comes with a magnetic antenna that attaches to the case magnetically.

Upgradability

One main concern of a pre-built PC is the expandability as the hardware and design are already locked with the chassis. Thankfully, the ASUS ExpertCenter D7 SFF D700SA is fine. Opening up the desktop you’ll see the empty slots, which are:

Of course, if you don’t know anything, you can always pre-order the specs you want directly from ASUS Malaysia.

Performance

My review unit is powered by the 10th Gen Intel Core i7-10700 processor with 8GB RAM. In terms of storage, my review unit comes with 256GB PCIe SSD + 1TB HDD. Everything is smooth from booting up to working on simple tasks like data entry, POS, and more. If your work requires you to create short online videos, full-length features, animation or 3D modeling, or graphics design, it’s better for you to add on the NVIDIA Quadro or GeForce graphics.

The desktop runs on Windows 10 Pro, which comes with BitLocker device encryption and Windows Information Protection (WIP). It also has ASUS Business Manager software pre-installed, which provides exclusive features, such as productivity and security tools for your ASUS Commercial PC.

Final Words

Retailing from RM2,892, the ASUS ExpertCenter D7 SFF D700SA is currently available in two variants. If you wish to upgrade the specs, you can always contact ASUS Malaysia for inquiries and quotations. The ASUS ExpertCenter D7 SFF D700SA is a budget pre-built desktop that is secure, reliable, and business-ready. Its compact size makes the entire setup process easier, you can just put it under the monitor if you don’t know where to put it. Additionally, it also comes with a keyboard and mouse included. My main complaint is it doesn’t have a Thunderbolt port, that’s it!
