Apple Announces New iPad and iPad mini

It’s about time again where Apple refreshes the iPads. This time around, Apple announces the new iPad (9th Gen) and iPad mini (6th Gen).

iPad (9th Gen)

The 9th generation iPad is basically the same as its predecessor, which sports the same 10.2-inch Retina display that supports first-gen Apple Pencil. Apple did also add the TrueTone feature to its entry-level tablet.

Powering the tablet is the A13 Bionic chip, which is similar to the iPhone 11 series. The chipset promises to have a 20% performance boost over the A12 Bionic in last year’s model.

It has the same rear camera as the last year’s model, but with a new ISP in the upgraded chipset that will enhance the image quality. The front camera is a 12MP 120-degree ultra-wide lens with the Centre Stage feature.

The tablet will be available in Malaysia soon, and this time the base model starts from 64GB, pricing as below:

iPad mini (6th Gen)

The 6th generation iPad mini gets a lot more upgrades together with a new design that looks more like the mini version of the latest iPad Air.

The new mini now sports a bigger 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display with TrueTone feature and rounded corners, which now supports 2nd-gen Apple Pencil. Its Touch ID is now together with the power button since the home button is now gone.

Powering the new mini is the A15 Bionic chip, the same as the iPhone 13 Pro models with a 5-core GPU. It also has an upgraded 12MP rear camera with True Tone flash and a wider f/1.8 aperture. The front-facing camera is a 12MP 120-degree ultra-wide lens with the Centre Stage feature.

Apple has also replaced the Lightning port with the USB-C port. The new mini will be available in four colors — Space Gray, Pink, Purple, and Starlight. Pricing as below:
