Apple Keynote September 2019

It’s that time of the year again where Apple unveils brand new products. Without further ado, here’s everything you need to know from Apple Keynote September 2019 event!

Apple Arcade

The Apple Arcade is a game subscription service that will be available on the App Store on Thursday, September 19 with iOS 13, at the price of RM19.90 per month. It will be available on September 30 on iPadOS and tvOS 13 and in October on macOS Catalina.

All the games can be played offline, and a single subscription includes access for up to six family members with Family Sharing. The catalog will exceed 100 games in the coming weeks as new titles are introduced, with more games to come every month.

Apple TV+

The Apple TV+ is the company’s take on video subscription services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. The service will launch on November 1 in 100 countries and regions. It will be available on the Apple TV app on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod touch, Mac and other platforms, including online at tv.apple.com, for RM19.90 per month with a seven-day free trial. Starting today, customers who purchase any iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod touch or Mac can enjoy one year of Apple TV+ for free. Through Family Sharing, up to six family members can share one Apple TV+ subscription.

Apple iPad (7th Generation)

Next up, the company also introduced the all-new 7th generation iPad, which now has an upgraded 10.2-inch Retina display (2,160 x 1,620 pixels) and supports Apple Pencil (1st generation). Powering it is the Apple A10 Fusion chip with embedded M10 coprocessor, not the latest one but at least still good enough.

It also has an 8MP f/2.4 rear camera and 1.2MP f/2.2 FaceTime HD camera if you ever bother about taking photos using an iPad. The new iPad also comes with stereo speakers too.

The new iPad runs on iPadOS out of the box, and Apple claims that its 32.4Wh battery will provide up to 10 hours of surfing the web on Wi-Fi, watching video or listening to music.

The 7th generation iPad will be available in Space Gray, Silver, and Gold. Pricing as below:

Unfortunately, the availability date of it in Malaysia remains unknown.

Apple Watch Series 5

Apple also announced the new Apple Watch Series 5, which now comes with a few improvements over the Series 4. It now has an Always-On Retina display, a built-in compass, and supports international emergency calling. It runs on watchOS 6, which now comes with new health and fitness features like Cycle Tracking, the Noise app, and Activity Trends.

The Apple Watch Series 5 is available in a wider range of materials, including aluminum, stainless steel, ceramic and all-new titanium. It will be priced starting from RM1,749.

iPhone 11

Moving on to the iPhone, Apple has introduced the iPhone 11, which is basically the successor of the iPhone XR. It comes with a 6.1-inch Liquid Retina HD display (still not Full HD) with Haptic Touch. The device is powered by the company’s latest 7nm A13 Bionic chip with 3rd generation Neural Engine. It is IP68 rated splash, water, and dust resistance with maximum depth of 2 meters up to 30 minutes.

For this year’s iPhone, Apple has improved the camera, or cameras. The iPhone 11 now comes with a dual-camera setup on the back — 12MP f/2.4 120° ultra-wide and 12MP f/1.8 wide cameras. You can record up to 4K@60fps video using both cameras. Additionally, it now also comes with Night mode, which is great for low-light photography. The 12MP TrueDepth camera on the front now also supports 1080p slow-mo video at 240fps, Apple called it Slofie.

The iPhone 11 runs on iOS 13 and Apple claims that its battery life is able to last up to 1 hour longer than the iPhone XR. Unfortunately, the 18W fast charger is sold separately. The phone will be available in Malaysia on 27th September 2019, pricing as below:

Color options are White, Black, Green, Yellow, Purple, and (PRODUCT)RED.

iPhone 11 Pro & iPhone 11 Pro Max

Lastly, here comes the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. Both phones sport a Super Retina XDR display, which is an OLED display, but in two sizes — 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch. The device is also powered by the same A13 Bionic chip as the iPhone 11. It is also IP68 rated splash, water, and dust resistance, but with maximum depth of 4 meters up to 30 minutes.

In terms of camera, the iPhone 11 Pro has one extra camera compared to the iPhone 11, making it has triple 12MP cameras — 12MP f/2.4 120° ultra-wide + 12MP f/1.8 wide + 12MP f/2.0 2x telephoto. Same as the iPhone 11, you can record up to 4K@60fps video with these cameras. It also has the same 12MP TrueDepth camera on the front that supports Slofie.

The phone also runs on iOS 13 and Apple claims that the iPhone 11 Pro lasts up to 4 hours longer than the iPhone Xs, while the iPhone 11 Pro Max lasts up to 5 hours longer than the iPhone Xs Max. This time around, Apple has also included the 18W fast charger in the box.

Both iPhone 11 Pro models will be available on 27th September 2019, pricing as below:

Color options are Gold, Midnight Green, Silver, and Space Gray.
