Apple iPhone Xs, Xs Max, and XR Officially Announced

Apple iPhone Xs, Xs Max, and XR

Well, it’s that time of the year again. The Apple iPhone Xs, Xs Max, and XR have just been officially announced! Yup, Apple has announced three iPhones this year.

iPhone Xs and Xs Max

As expected, Apple has announced a refreshed version of previous year flagship every two years. This time around, we got the iPhone Xs, as well as the additional sized-up Xs Max. Both phones have a 19.5:9 OLED Super Retina HD display with 3D Touch and True Tone feature. The differences are the screen size and resolution — iPhone Xs: 5.8-inch at 2,436 x 1,125 resolution, iPhone Xs Max: 6.5-inch at 2,688 x 1,242 resolution.

Performance wise, both phones are now powered by the latest 7nm A12 Bionic chip with next-generation Neural Engine. Apple also claims that both phones have faster Face ID and wider stereo sound.

Additionally, both phones have a dual-camera setup at the back — 12MP f/1.8 wide-angle lens and 12MP f/2.4 telephoto lens, both are optically stabilized. Portrait mode now comes with advanced bokeh and Depth Control. As for the TrueDepth selfie camera wise, it is still a 7MP f/2.2 unit that supports Animoji and Memoji.

Both iPhones are still IP68-rated and support Qi wireless charging. Apple also states that the new iPhones now have an even better battery life than the iPhone X.

The new iPhone Xs and Xs Max will be available in 64GB, 256GB and 512GB capacity models in Space Gray, Silver and a new Gold finish starting at $999 (US) and $1,099, respectively. Apple has also introduced the dual-SIM functionality, not sure will Malaysia actually get this variant, though.

The iPhone XR is the more affordable version, which comes with a 6.1-inch IPS Liquid Retina HD display. Unfortunately, the screen doesn’t support 3D Touch. It is still powered by the same A12 Bionic chip with next-generation Neural Engine.

In terms of camera, it has a single 12MP f/1.8 wide-angle camera at the back that can also do Portrait shots with advanced bokeh and Depth Control. The TrueDepth front camera is still a 7MP f/2.2 unit, which is used for Face ID too.

The iPhone XR will be available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB models in White, Black, Blue, Yellow, Coral, and (PRODUCT)RED starting at $749 (US).
