Xiaomi Malaysia has officially announced the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 smartphone today retailing for RM 649, available from 11 November 2015 onwards. Headline features besides the incredibly competitve price include an infra red universal remote control, running MIUI 7 out of the box with a 13 MP rear camera using phase detection autofocus but the full tech specs and features list is as follows:
The Redmi Note 2 has a 64-bit 2.0 GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 processor running under the hood which is mated to 2 GB RAM. It also has a 13 MP rear camera with phase detection autofocus, f/2.2 aperture, 5-element lens and an LED flash while it comes with a 5 MP selfie snapper.
The device also comes with 16 GB of onboard memory which is epandable up to 32 GB via MicroSD. The Redmi Note 2 comes with a 5.5-inch display which is FHD with 1,920 x 1,080 pixel resolution. Other miscellaneous features include an infrared blaster 802.11ac WiFi. The Redmi Note 2’s dimensions measure 152 x 76 x 8.25 mm while it weighs 160 g. It comes with 3,060 mAh battery for a substantial battery life while the Redmi Note 2 also runs MIUI 7 right out of the box.
Being fairly slim at 8.25 mm, the 5.5-inch display makes the Redmi Note 2 more of a phablet than a regular smartphone but the plastic interchangeable back allows it to be fairly lightweight at 160 g. Colors include black, rose pink, coral blue, yellow and white.
