Samsung has finally announced the Galaxy Z Fold7 at its latest Unpacked event, which is the successor to the Z Fold6. No, we do not have the Ultra variant, but this year’s model promises an “Ultra” experience. I was able to spend a little time with the phone, and here’s the first look.

Samsung continues where they left off from the Galaxy Z Fold6; the Galaxy Z Fold7 is now even thinner at 8.9mm when folded and 4.2mm when unfolded. The phone now weighs only 215g, which is even lighter than the Galaxy S25 Ultra (218g).

The phone comes with an IP48 rating for water and dust resistance. It features an Advanced Armor Aluminum and the new Armor FlexHinge with Grade 4 Titanium Lattice. The front glass is the new Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, while the back is still a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

The phone sports a larger 6.5-inch FHD+ (2,520 x 1,080) Dynamic AMOLED 2X cover screen and an 8-inch QXGA+ (2,184 x 1,968) Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex Display when unfolded. Both screens also have an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate. Samsung didn’t mention much about the screen, so we assume the main display still has up to 2,600 nits of brightness. The Under Display Camera has been replaced with an ordinary 10MP front camera. Good to see that Samsung has finally addressed this issue.

The Galaxy Z Fold7 lost the S Pen functionality because only a minority of people will use it, according to Samsung. Nevertheless, it feels like a normal phone to hold when folded, thanks to the thinner profile.

Powering the Galaxy Z Fold7 is the 3nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy platform with up to 16GB RAM and three storage options — 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. The phone still has the same 4,400mAh battery with 25W charging.

The Galaxy Z Fold7 features a 200MP main camera with OIS, similar to the one on the S25 Ultra. However, the other cameras will be mostly the same – 10MP telephoto with OIS and 12MP ultra-wide.

The phone runs on One UI 8 on top of Android 16, which is an incremental update over One UI 7. One UI 8 is now fully integrated with Gemini; you can share your screen on Gemini Live and ask for a recipe by just showing the fruits on your table. Circle to Search now also works while in gameplay.

Available in Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow, Jetblack, and Mint (Samsung.com Exclusive) colors, the Galaxy Z Fold7 is now available for pre-order starting today, 9 July 2025, with general availability starting 1 August 2025.

  • 12GB+256GB: RM7,799
  • 12GB+512GB: RM8,399
  • 16GB+1TB: RM9,899

Samsung also announced the Samsung Care+ program for the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7, which now comes with a global warranty and 3-year unlimited repair. You can pre-order the phone via Shopee and Lazada.
