Samsung’s latest Galaxy Watch8 lineup has officially arrived, and we had the chance to take a closer look at the all-new Galaxy Watch8 and Galaxy Watch8 Classic. Both models mark a major leap in not just hardware refinement, but also in holistic wellness and AI integration — aiming to be more than just a smartwatch, but a full-fledged health and lifestyle companion.
Galaxy Watch8
Available in 40mm and 44mm sizes, the Galaxy Watch8 brings a sleek new silhouette with a cushion-like profile, taking cues from the all-new Galaxy Watch Ultra design. Despite its minimalistic design refresh, the Watch8 immediately feels more premium on the wrist, thanks to its Sapphire Crystal Glass and Super AMOLED Full Color Always On Display — measuring 1.34 inches on the 40mm and 1.47 inches on the 44mm variant. With a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, readability under harsh sunlight was excellent during our quick hands-on.
Powering the Watch8 is Samsung’s 3nm Exynos W1000 chip, which brings noticeable fluidity when swiping between widgets and apps. You get 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which should be sufficient for offline music, apps, and more. The 40mm version houses a 325mAh battery, while the 44mm gets a 435mAh unit — enough for a full day and more depending on usage patterns.
Samsung continues to pack in a comprehensive sensor suite, including the Samsung BioActive Sensor, temperature sensor, barometer, accelerometer, and more. These sensors enable a wide range of health tracking features that feel more integrated than ever, thanks to One UI 8 Watch built on Wear OS 6.
Available in Graphite and Silver, the Galaxy Watch8 feels like a refined continuation of Samsung’s smartwatch journey — only now with a stronger focus on meaningful health insights and AI-powered convenience.
Galaxy Watch8 Classic
The fan-favourite rotating bezel is back, and it’s better than ever in the Galaxy Watch8 Classic. Available exclusively in a 46mm size, the Watch8 Classic shares the same 1.34-inch AMOLED display as the 40mm Watch8, but the larger form factor gives space to that signature rotating bezel — a handy way to navigate the UI while adding a touch of classic sophistication.
Internally, it features the same 3nm Exynos W1000 processor with 2GB RAM, but bumps up the storage to 64GB, giving users even more room for media and apps. It also houses a 445mAh battery and includes all the same health sensors as the vanilla Watch8, plus a 3D Hall sensor to enhance the bezel interaction.
The Watch8 Classic runs on One UI 8 Watch with Wear OS 6 and is available in Black and White finishes. On the wrist, it feels solid yet balanced, with the rotating bezel offering a tangible, precise feel that longtime Galaxy Watch fans will surely appreciate.
Smarter Health, Deeper Insights
Beyond the hardware, what sets the Watch8 series apart is its AI-powered wellness features. Samsung has introduced a host of new health metrics that dive deeper into your daily well-being. The new Vascular Load metric analyzes cardiovascular stress during sleep, while the Antioxidant Index offers a first-of-its-kind view of your carotenoid levels — metrics previously unavailable on wearables.
The sleep tracking experience has also evolved, now incorporating circadian rhythm analysis for more personalized bedtime guidance. For fitness users, the Running Coach tool creates tailored plans based on your performance and provides real-time feedback, making training more focused and adaptive. Meanwhile, the updated Together feature encourages friendly competition through shared goals and virtual races.
Stress management is also front and center, with High Stress Alerts and guided breathing sessions available via the Mindfulness Tracker — a valuable addition for anyone seeking to maintain mental balance throughout the day.
AI Takes the Lead
The integration of Google’s Gemini AI assistant adds a whole new dimension to the Galaxy Watch experience. From setting up meetings to initiating workout plans with natural voice prompts, it makes multitasking on the go even easier. Additionally, the revamped One UI 8 Watch interface consolidates everything with Multi-Info Tiles, combining weather, calendar, and health statistics into a more streamlined, glanceable format.
