First Look: Samsung Galaxy S25 Series

The wait is over! Samsung recently invited us to a media briefing of the latest Galaxy S25 series, featuring the Galaxy S25 Ultra, S25+, and S25. Here’s our first look at the latest S25 trio without further ado.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra has been redesigned, featuring more rounded edges and flat sides with a slimmer and thinner bezel. It still sports a 6.9-inch QHD+ (3,120×1,440) Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. It has a Corning Gorilla Armor 2 front and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 back, accompanied by a titanium frame.

Powering the phone is the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor tailored specifically for the Galaxy series. This processor is an overclocked variant of the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite. Samsung claims that the phone now has a 40% larger vapor chamber compared to its predecessor.

It comes with 256GB UFS 4.0 as the base storage with 12GB RAM and can go all the way up to 1TB configuration. Some regions do get the 16GB RAM model. In terms of battery, the S25 Ultra still comes with the same 5,000mAh battery that supports 45W charging.

Samsung still includes an S Pen for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, but this is not the BLE S Pen as it used to be, meaning you don’t get tricks like controlling the camera remotely and air actions since the S Pen doesn’t have Bluetooth connection anymore. Samsung stated that this decision was made after finding out that most users don’t use these features.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra has new cameras in the quad-camera system: a 50MP ultra-wide lens that captures 4x better macro shots, a 200MP wide lens with OIS, a 50MP 5x telephoto lens that takes 12.5MP images with 4-in-1 pixel binning, and the same 10MP 3x telephoto lens. Samsung mentioned that it has more seamless lens-switching when recording a video.

The new cameras are aided by the next-generation ProVisual Engine which can capture less noise and more details. 10-bit HDR is the default video mode. Additionally, it also comes with the new Pro Video mode. You can now shoot Galaxy Log enabling precise color grading options for more professional video production. Samsung also introduces depth-of-field control with Virtual Aperture, integrated into the popular Expert RAW.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra will be available in Titanium Silverblue, Titanium Whitesilver, Titanium Gray, and Titanium Black. There are also three Samsung.com exclusive colors: Titanium Pinkgold, Titanium Jetblack, and Titanium Jadegreen.

The Galaxy S25 and S25+ are incremental updates over their predecessors. The S25 still has the same 6.2-inch Full HD+ (2,340×1,080) Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, while the S25+ has the same 6.7-inch QHD+ (3,120×1,440) Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. Both phones still have an LTPO panel, allowing for a variable refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz.

Both phones are also powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor for Galaxy. One noticeable upgrade is even the vanilla S25 has 12GB RAM and 256GB as the base model, the same as the S25+. They both have a 15% larger vapor chamber than their predecessors.

In terms of battery, the S25 has a 4,000mAh battery with 25W charging, while the S25+ has a 4,900mAh battery with 45W charging.

Both phones still feature the Armor Aluminum frame like their predecessors. The front and back glasses are both Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

The S25 and S25+ have the same camera setup as their predecessors: a 12MP ultra-wide lens, a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), and a 10MP 3x telephoto lens with OIS. Both phones also come with the next-generation ProVisual Engine that captures less noise and more details.

The Galaxy S25 and S25+ will be available in Navy, Icyblue, Mint, and Silver Shadow. There are also three Samsung.com exclusive colors: Blueblack, Coralred, and Pinkgold.

One UI 7 with Galaxy AI

The Galaxy S25 series runs on One UI 7 based on Android 15, and Samsung has further improved its Galaxy AI features. The new Galaxy AI now has more actionable suggestions for AI Select. Circle to Search now has an enhanced recognition, which can even detect the music playing. The new Galaxy AI now has a conversational search experience that uses natural language.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Series_Gemini AI

Samsung now collaborates with Gemini to streamline complex tasks with a single click of button, which enables cross-app actions.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Series_Now Bar

The new One UI 7 with Galaxy AI is now more personalized. Now Brief is your personal assistant who will brief your day. There’s also an intelligent lock screen featuring Now Bar, which will show your live activities on the lock screen. The personal data engine comes with powerful privacy, providing cloud and on-device protection.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Series_Audio Eraser

The new Galaxy AI also comes with an Audio Eraser feature, which can recognize and isolate sounds from various sources including voices, music, wind, nature, crowd, and noise. You can then manually modify and control the audio level of different sources.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Series_AI Photo Editing

AI Photo Editing is better with improved Generative Edit and Portrait Studio. You can also pick your favorite faces in group photos and replace the existing faces.
