Earlier this month, Samsung announced the new Galaxy A series smartphones—the Galaxy A56 5G, Galaxy A36 5G, and Galaxy A26 5G. Guess what? All three phones are now available in Malaysia!

These new models mark the debut of Awesome Intelligence in the A series, introducing AI-driven features to boost creativity while enhancing durability, security, and longevity for a more reliable mobile experience. All three devices offer innovative tools like Circle to Search, enabling instant on-screen searches, and advanced image editing features such as Object Eraser. They also feature AI-powered camera upgrades, delivering improved image quality, better low-light performance, and enhanced video recording.

Galaxy A56

The Galaxy A56 introduces several notable upgrades, featuring 45W wired charging—a first for the A series. It is driven by Samsung’s latest Exynos 1580 chipset, delivering a substantial performance leap compared to its predecessor. The phone boasts a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution, a peak brightness of 1,900 nits, and Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection. With a slim design measuring just 7.4mm thick, the camera module has been redesigned to eliminate lens protrusions.

The Exynos 1580 chipset includes a 2.9GHz CPU, an AMD-based GPU with 2x WGP, and an NPU capable of 14.7 TOPS, achieving a 37% performance boost. The device supports up to 12GB of RAM.

The camera system remains consistent, featuring a 50MP f/1.8 main sensor, a 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide lens, and a 5MP f/2.4 macro lens. The front camera is a 12MP f/2.2 sensor. AI enhancements elevate image quality with features like context-aware processing and improved low-light capabilities. Samsung has also doubled the zoom transition speed between the main and ultra-wide cameras.

Running Android 15 with One UI 7.0, the Galaxy A56 offers a refreshed interface and enhanced customization options. It houses a 5,000mAh battery with 45W Super Fast Charge 2.0, allowing a 65% charge in 30 minutes and a full charge in 68 minutes.

Galaxy A36

The Galaxy A36 marks a shift with the introduction of the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset, moving away from the Exynos and Dimensity processors found in previous models. It incorporates a larger vapor chamber, akin to the one in the Galaxy S24+, for enhanced thermal efficiency. The base configuration includes 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, with upgrades available to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage.

The device features the same 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display as the A56, offering Full HD+ resolution and a peak brightness of 1,900 nits. Both the front and back are shielded by Gorilla Glass Victus+, while the frame is constructed from polycarbonate. It maintains an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance.

The rear camera setup consists of a 50MP f/1.8 main camera with OIS, an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide lens, and a 5MP f/2.4 macro camera. The front camera has been upgraded to a 12MP sensor, and both front and rear cameras now support video HDR (10-bit up to 4K at 30fps).

Powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 45W charging—up from 25W in its predecessor—the A36 achieves a 66% charge in 30 minutes and a full charge in 68 minutes. It launches with Android 15 and One UI 7, promising six OS updates and six years of security patches. AI features such as Circle to Search, Object Eraser, and custom image filters are also included.

Galaxy A26

The Galaxy A26 is a more affordable option, sharing many features with last year’s A35. It is powered by the Exynos 1380 chipset, which delivers 8% lower CPU performance compared to the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 in the A36. Unlike the A36, it lacks an enhanced vapor chamber for cooling.

The base model comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, with an option for 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It also includes a MicroSD card slot, a feature absent in higher-tier A-series models. The device runs Android 15 with One UI 7 and supports six OS updates and six years of security patches.

The A26 features a 6.7-inch OLED display with Full HD+ resolution. However, it uses a notch for the selfie camera instead of a punch-hole design, and the fingerprint scanner is side-mounted rather than under the display. The front camera is a 13MP sensor without video HDR support. The rear camera setup includes a 50MP main camera with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro lens.

Samsung has slimmed down the A26’s body to 7.7mm (from 8.3mm), though the weight has increased slightly to 200g. It now has an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, matching the A36 and A56. The 5,000mAh battery supports 25W charging.
