If you are looking for a flagship smart robot vacuum but on a tight budget, the Roborock Q Revo might be the right choice for you. Why did I say so? In this review, we’ll find out everything about this flagship robot vacuum disruptor.
Design
In terms of design, the Roborock Q Revo looks pretty much like the S6 MaxV I reviewed a couple of years ago. Since it is designed to bang here bang there, the robot has a rounded design covered by glossy plastic. It is still a big robot vacuum that might not be able to get under some chairs for cleaning.
The side of the robot vacuum uses a matte finish plastic. It comes with a LiDAR sensor that scans your home environment and creates detailed maps to find an optimal route to clean your home. Additionally, it also detects and avoids potential hazards easily thanks to the Reactive Tech Obstacle Avoidance, so you don’t have to worry about picking them up off the floor before cleaning.
There are only two buttons on top of the robot vacuum, which are the Clean/Power button and the Dock button. Pressing the Clean/Power button will start cleaning or a long press to turn off the robot, while pressing the Dock button will command the robot to return to the dock.
Opening up the top cover of the robot vacuum, you’ll see the dust filter. There’s also a Wi-Fi indicator showing the Wi-Fi status:
- Off: Wi-Fi disabled
- Flashing slowly: Waiting for connection
- Flashing quickly: Connecting
- Steady: Wi-Fi connected
The back of the robot is where it connects to the multifunctional dock for charging and all the self-cleaning work.
At the bottom, there’s a rubber brush that prevents hair from being tangled and can also be detached for cleaning or replaced if found worn. The Roborock Q Revo introduces Roborock’s first-ever dual-spinning mop system that effectively cleans floors at 200 RPM speed. It also brings with it the brand’s automatic mop-lifting feature. Lifting up to 7mm, it is able to mop floors and vacuum in one go, without trailing stains or messes.
The Dock and Maintenance
As for the multifunctional dock, it makes life simpler with hands-free cleaning that’ll keep maintenance to a minimum. There are two huge water tanks, one for clean water and another one for dirty water. Then opening up the front flap will reveal the 2.7L dustbin bag. The dock actually has multiple functions:
- Self-Washing: Spins and scrubs the mop pads along the dock base to keep them clean after every run.
- Self-Drying: Dries the mops completely with 45℃ of warm air, preventing the growth of mold and unpleasant odors.
- Self-Emptying: Allows for up to 7 weeks without emptying.
- Self-Refilling: Fills the water tank automatically for a max mopping range of up to 4,305 sqft (400 sqm).
Aside from replacing the dust bag and changing the water, there are other small maintenance such as cleaning the filters, brushes, and sensors. The dock base can be easily removed for you to clean.
User Experience
For smart features, you can either use the Roborock app or the Mi Home app. What’s more, you can even start cleaning your house or specific rooms simply by using your voice with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, or Apple Siri Shortcuts.
As usual, the floor plan mapping is quite accurate it even manages to label different items. You can set the vacuum power and the water level for mopping as well. Each room can be set with different water levels and you can specify which area is a no-go zone too (for vacuuming and mopping).
Unfortunately, the Roborock Q Revo doesn’t allow you to see the live feed, but you can still control the robot vacuum. The app will also show you other parts that need to be maintained such as the filter, main brush, side brush, sensors, mop, cleaning tank, and dust bag. It’ll even show you the percentage and time left, which is quite handy.
Performance
With an extreme suction of 5500Pa, dust and dirt are easily captured from different floor types for an improved home cleanup. There are four modes — Quiet, Balanced, Turbo, and Max, the more power you choose, the noisier the robot vacuum. It did a great job at cleaning the space and when there’s a floor, it’ll just go over. Overall, the Roborock Q Revo did well in avoiding all those obstacles and there’s also an anti-fall function.
The mopping capability has been improved thanks to the new dual-spinning mop. The water tank onboard has a small 80ml capacity, which means it would need to refill clean water every 400 to 500 sqft of cleaning with high water flow settings.
Battery Life
The Roborock Q Revo has a 5,200mAh battery that can last about 180 minutes of runtime on a single charge. If you have a big house, the robot will return to its dock for charging and resume its tasks once it’s charged. Roborock claims that it has faster charging and gets the most from low energy prices by charging during off-peak hours.
Final Words
Retailing at RM3,799, the Roborock Q Revo is just like other flagship robot vacuums at a mid-range price. This is definitely one flagship disruptor, offering a flagship experience at a mid-range price. Its multifunctional dock makes life simpler with hands-free cleaning that’ll keep maintenance to a minimum.
