NVIDIA’s Tegra K1 powers new ‘smart toaster’

While NVIDIA being in the forefront of technological development be it in sceitific research, the gaming, mobile or automobile industries is no surprise, it is a surprise to see the newest application of NVIDIA’s Tegra K1 processor.

On the other hand, it shouldn’t be that much of a surprise as NVIDIA has always been an advocate for the integration of their technology into our daily lives. We can now confirm NVIDIA has entered the realm of house appliances with their debut in the simplest appliance, an oven.

According to our sources, it’s called the June oven. This revolutionary smart oven is powered by a quad-core version of NVIDIA’s Tegra K1 processor. With the help of a Full HD camera embedded inside the roof, the June oven is easily able to determine what are you trying to make, the ingredients inside it and incredibly is also able to calculate the approximate time needed to make the meal edible. In fact, you would be able to sync your phone to it to monitor the cooking progress even when you’re not near the oven.

Want to cook some chicken but are unsure when would the core be cooked? No problem as the June oven comes with a thermometer rod that automatically ramps up the oven’s temperature when the bird’s core reaches its optimal temperature.

The oven also features a 5-inch touchscreen display for all its controls as well as carbon fiber heating elements which allows the oven to pre-heat itself to 177 degrees Celsius in a mere 4 minutes. Unsurprisingly, the June oven won’t come cheap. Those who pre-order the oven may purchase it at $ 1,495 (RM 2,995) before the price is expected to rise to $ 2,995 (RM 11,210).
