Nothing Phone (4a) Pro, Phone (4a), and Headphone (a) Officially Announced

Nothing Phone (4a) Series

Nothing has officially announced the new Nothing Phone (4a) series, which consists of the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro and the standard Nothing Phone (4a). Building on the design language introduced by the previous generation, the new lineup refines the formula with upgraded hardware, improved displays, and updated Glyph lighting systems.

Nothing Phone (4a) Pro

Leading the lineup is the Phone (4a) Pro, which introduces several notable upgrades over last year’s Nothing Phone (3a) Pro. One of the most significant changes is the move from a plastic frame to a metal unibody construction. Despite the sturdier build, the device is actually slimmer at 7.95mm, while maintaining the same overall weight. The phone carries an IP65 rating and can reportedly withstand shallow submersion of up to 25cm for 20 minutes.

Powering the device is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, which promises up to 27% faster CPU performance, 30% better graphics performance, and a 65% boost in AI capabilities compared to the previous generation. The chip is paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. To help maintain sustained performance, Nothing has equipped the phone with a large 5,300mm² vapor chamber cooling system.

On the front, the Phone (4a) Pro features a 6.83-inch OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 1,260 × 2,800 pixels. The panel supports peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits and uses 2,160Hz PWM dimming. Protection is provided by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.

For photography, the phone is equipped with a triple-camera setup consisting of a 50MP main camera using the Sony Lytia 700C, paired with optical image stabilization. It is joined by a 50MP periscope telephoto camera using the Samsung ISOCELL JN5 with 3.5× optical zoom, extendable to 7× through in-sensor zoom. The third camera is an 8MP ultra-wide unit with a 120-degree field of view. Video recording supports 4K at 30fps with Ultra XDR. Meanwhile, the front camera has been downgraded to a 32MP sensor.

Another major addition is the Glyph Matrix, a circular LED system on the back consisting of 137 LEDs. Inspired by the Nothing Phone (3), the lighting system can reach up to 3,000 nits of brightness and offers various notification and utility functions.

The standard Phone (4a) retains many of the Pro model’s features but makes a few compromises to keep the price lower. It continues to use a plastic frame and is slightly thicker at 8.55mm, while also carrying a lower IP64 rating.

Instead of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, the device runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, which offers only modest performance improvements over its predecessor. It is paired with 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

The phone features a slightly smaller 6.78-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 1,224 × 2,720 pixels. Peak brightness reaches up to 4,500 nits, while durability is again handled by Gorilla Glass 7i.

Camera hardware is largely similar to the Pro model, except for the main camera. The standard model uses a 50MP Samsung ISOCELL GN9 sensor instead of the Sony sensor found on the Pro. It retains the same 50MP 3.5× periscope telephoto camera, 8MP ultra-wide lens, and 32MP front camera.

At the back, the phone features a simplified Glyph Bar lighting system consisting of 63 LEDs arranged in a straight bar layout. These LEDs can reach up to 3,500 nits of brightness.

Battery and Software

Nothing Phone (4a) Series

Both devices pack a 5,080mAh battery with support for 50W wired charging. According to Nothing, the battery should retain at least 90% of its original capacity after 1,200 charging cycles.

On the software side, both phones run Nothing OS 4.1, based on Android 16. Nothing is promising three Android OS updates and six years of security patches.

Nothing Headphone (a)

Alongside the smartphones, the company also introduced the Nothing Headphone (a), its first affordable pair of Nothing-branded over-ear headphones.

The headphones feature 40mm titanium-coated drivers and support Hi-Resolution Audio Wireless certification with the LDAC codec. Active Noise Cancellation is included with three preset levels, while three microphones handle calls.

Nothing claims the headphones can last up to 135 hours on a single charge, with a quick five-minute recharge providing up to five hours of playback. The device weighs 310g and features memory foam ear cushions, along with an IP52 rating for dust and sweat resistance.

Controls are handled through physical inputs such as the Roller, Paddle, and Button, which allow users to adjust volume, navigate media, and switch ANC modes. The Button can also act as a remote shutter for a smartphone camera and enable Channel Hop to quickly switch between apps and functions.

The headphones will be available in Pink, Yellow, White, and Black.

Availability

Pricing and official availability in Malaysia for the Nothing Phone (4a) series and Headphone (a) will be announced on 1 April 2026. For more info, head over to the official website here.
