HUAWEI has officially launched its first tri-fold foldable smartphone, the Mate XT, in Malaysia. When fully unfolded, it provides a tablet-sized display that can be folded back into a compact candy-bar phone, making it pocket-friendly.
The Mate XT features a large, flexible 2,232×3,184 LTPO OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,800 nits, which can adapt to three different sizes. In its folded state, the “cover screen” measures 6.4-inch. Unfolding it once expands the display to 7.9-inch, and a second unfold reveals the full 10.2-inch screen.
Powered by Huawei’s in-house Kirin 9010 chipset, the device is equipped with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. It supports 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC for connectivity. The phone also includes a side-mounted fingerprint scanner but lacks an IP rating for dust or water resistance.
For photography, the tri-fold phone boasts a 50MP main camera with OIS and a 10-speed adjustable physical aperture, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, a 12MP telephoto lens with 5.5x optical zoom, and an 8MP selfie camera embedded in the cover screen. It is powered by a substantial 5,600mAh battery, supporting 66W wired and 50W wireless charging.
Priced at RM14,999, the HUAWEI Mate XT is available for pre-order at Shopee and Lazada stores. Pre-order customers will receive a complimentary one-year screen protection plan valued at RM3,999.
