HUAWEI has officially launched the HUAWEI Mate 80 Pro in Malaysia, marking the long-awaited return of the brand’s flagship Mate series to the local market. The launch is significant for fans of HUAWEI devices, as the last Mate series officially introduced in Malaysia was the HUAWEI Mate 50 Series back in 2022.

The Mate 80 Pro features a 6.75-inch 1.5K LTPO OLED display with an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. This allows the device to dynamically adjust the refresh rate based on the content being displayed, offering smoother visuals while improving power efficiency. Both the front and rear panels are protected by second-generation Kunlun Glass, which HUAWEI claims delivers up to 20 times better drop resistance compared to conventional smartphone glass. To further enhance durability, the phone also carries both IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance, providing protection against harsh environments.

Powering the Mate 80 Pro is HUAWEI’s in-house Kirin 9030 chipset. The device comes equipped with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, ensuring smooth performance for multitasking, gaming, and productivity tasks.

At the rear, the smartphone features HUAWEI’s signature Dual Space Rings design. The upper circular module houses the company’s second-generation True-to-Color camera system, which consists of a 50MP main camera, a 40MP ultra-wide camera, and a 48MP telephoto camera. The telephoto lens supports 4x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom, allowing users to capture distant subjects with greater clarity.

HUAWEI has also introduced several AI-powered photography features to enhance the user experience. One of these is AI Composition, which provides real-time framing guidance to help users capture well-balanced photos. Other AI capabilities include AI Remove, which allows users to easily eliminate unwanted people or objects from photos, and AI Best Expression, which automatically captures multiple frames and selects the best expressions to create the perfect group photo.

On the software side, the Mate 80 Pro runs EMUI 15. The device is backed by a large 5,750mAh battery and supports 100W HUAWEI SuperCharge for wired charging as well as 80W wireless HUAWEI SuperCharge, allowing users to recharge the phone quickly and conveniently.
