Design
The HONOR 200 Pro has a quad-curved display and a pill-shaped notch housing the dual selfie cameras. The phone feels light despite its size, thanks to the thin bezels. However, the curved display can lead to accidental touches for some users.
The back design of the phone is inspired by nature, which has a rather nice texture matching the color theme. My review unit is the Moonlight White variant. The phone is also available in Ocean Cyan, which has a different texture design.
The pill-shaped notch comes with an AI feature, which HONOR calls Magic Capsule, an interactive bubble that appears at the top of your screen, providing subtle notifications for any push alerts from installed apps.
Display
The HONOR 200 Pro sports a 6.78-inch 1.5K (2,700×1,224) OLED equal-depth quad-curved display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate deliver smooth visuals and vibrant colors, making it great for watching videos or gaming. However, I still encounter the same issue on certain occasions scrolling doesn’t feel that smooth at all especially when I’m scrolling the YouTube app.
Performance
The HONOR 200 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor with 12GB RAM and 512GB internal storage. You’ll get an additional 12GB virtual RAM thanks to HONOR RAM Turbo, which means it has a total of 24GB RAM. Do note that virtual RAM is not true RAM, it uses internal storage on your device by creating a swap partition that acts as zRAM. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor offers excellent performance for everyday tasks and even demanding games. There are no stutters or slowdowns, and multitasking is a breeze.
Software
The phone runs on MagicOS 8.0 based on Android 14, which has plenty of AI features. The user experience is pretty much the same as before and I’m still experiencing app freeze and lack of optimization issues.
Camera
The HONOR 200 Pro packs a triple-camera setup on the back — 50MP H9000 main camera + 50MP Sony IMX856 telephoto camera + 12MP ultra-wide and macro camera. For selfies, it also offers a 50MP front camera.
Photo quality is excellent, with sharp details, good low-light performance (except the ultra-wide lens), and impressive dynamic range. Portrait photography is a particular highlight, with the “Studio Harcourt” effects offering a unique and professional aesthetic. The AI Motion Sensing Capture allows you to capture dynamic moments like people smiling, running, and jumping, as well as active pets such as cats and dogs, ensuring crisp and clear images.
Battery Life
The HONOR 200 Pro has a 5,200mAh battery with HONOR 100W wired Super Charge and 66W wireless Super Charge. It easily lasts a full day, even with heavy use. The 100W wired charging is incredibly fast, taking the phone from zero to 100% in under 30 minutes. Even wireless charging at 66W is speedy.
Final Words
Retailing at RM2,699, the HONOR 200 Pro is a compelling option for users who prioritize camera quality, battery life, and a smooth display. The powerful processor ensures smooth performance, making it a great all-rounder. However, the software experience might not be for everyone, and the multi-core performance falls a bit behind its predecessor.
Overall: If you’re looking for a phone that excels in capturing stunning portraits, lasts all day on a single charge, and offers a flagship-like display, the HONOR 200 Pro is a strong contender. But keep in mind the software quirks and consider your preference for a stock Android experience.
