Samsung will be announcing the Galaxy Note 5 on 13th August along with the S6 edge +. If you’re curious on how the Note 5 looks like, now we have a clearer and more detailed view thanks to newly leaked pictures taken at varying angles. This appears to be a sample set to showcase Nillkin’s new clear case for the upcoming productivity phablet.
Matching the renders that have surfaced previously, the Galaxy Note 5 will have a curved glass back which slopes towards the edges, which is similar to the design on Xiaomi’s Mi Note. Just like the S6 and S6 edge, the Galaxy Note 5 will come in striking metallic colors which reflects light to give a cool-looking shimmering effect.
Unless Samsung is doubling up its SIM tray slot for MicroSD use, it looks like there isn’t going to be any expandable storage and removable battery for the Galaxy Note 5 which is a real bummer. Like the Galaxy S6, memory capacity should come with at a minimum 32 GB with larger options being offered at selected markets.
As for its technical specs, it is expected to retain its 5.7″ Quad HD display and underneath it runs on a newer iteration of Samsung’s proprietary Exynos 7422 processor that’s been mated with 4 GB of LP-DDR4 RAM, which should perform rather nicely.
The design language is the same with the use of a metallic frame but it does look like the reverse of the S6 Edge with the slopping lines aligned towards the back instead of to the front. The phablet also gets a protruding camera with its own LED flash and a heart rate sensor placed right next to it.
The top looks clean and they have surprisingly omitted the infrared blaster and you just get a nano SIM tray slot and a secondary mic. Looking at the bottom, you’ll find a headphone jack, Micro USB port, a speaker grill and mic as well as the silo for its S-Pen. Both sides appear to be relatively clean with just the typical volume rockers and power button visible.
With the launch of both new Samsung offerings happening on 13th August, Samsung could be selling this new phablet before the end of August if not by September.
