It seems that having an 18:9 display is really a thing right now for a smartphone. The ASUS ZenFone Max Plus (M1) today made its official debut in Malaysia, the first smartphone with 18:9 display made by ASUS.
According to ASUS Malaysia, the company has decided to change its naming strategy for the ZenFone Max Plus series. The first generation will be named as “M1”, while the next generation will be named as “M2”, “M3”, etc.
The device sports a 5.7-inch HD+ (1,440 x 720) full-view 18:9 IPS display. ASUS claims that it managed to fit into a 5.2-inch body with this new display aspect ratio. Powering the device is a MediaTek MT6750T SoC with 4GB RAM and 32GB expandable storage.
In terms of camera, the ZenFone Max Plus packs a dual-rear camera setup — 16MP f/2.0 regular + 8MP 120° wide-angle lenses. Selfie wise, it also has a 16MP f/2.0 front-facing shooter.
Since it’s the ZenFone Max series, the device packs a huge 4,130mAh battery that comes with up 26 days of standby time.
Retailing at RM899, the ZenFone Max Plus (M1) will be available from 20 December 2017 onwards. The device is now available for pre-order and consumers will get RM200 off with Trade in and Rebate. Meanwhile, the device is available in Deepsea Black, Sunlight Gold, and Azure Silver colors.
