Introduction
Last year, we reviewed the 5.5-inch version ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser. And guess what? ASUS Malaysia is kind enough to send us the 6-inch version for yet another review. However, there’s not much difference between the 5.5-inch (ZE550KL) and 6-inch (ZE601KL) versions. Hence, we are just going to talk about the differences between both devices.
#1 – Size, Weight and Screen Resolution
One noticeable difference between the 5.5-inch (ZE550KL) and 6-inch (ZE601KL) versions obviously is the size. Besides the size, the weight and screen resolution are also different. The ZE550KL model comes with a 5.5-inch 720p display and weighs 170 g, whereas the ZE601KL has a 6-inch 1080p display and weighs 190 g.
#2 – Power
The next one will be the processing package. The ZE550KL is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor with 2 GB RAM, while the ZE601KL is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor with 3 GB RAM. ZenUI already works pretty well on Snapdragon 410 SoC. With a slightly more powerful processor and extra 1 GB RAM, the 6-inch version now can even handle more demanding games as well as better multitasking experience.
#3 – Speaker
Two is better than one. The 6-inch model features two speakers instead of one from the 5.5-inch model. Its dual-driver audio chamber is 50% larger than before, with a five-magnet construction and metal voice coil. Stay tuned as we will be publishing another review, which focuses on its speakers in the future.
Final Words
Yes, that’s it! The 6-inch ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser offers a bigger screen, better performance and more powerful audio quality than the 5.5-inch version. The device will be priced at just slightly more than RM 1k. Oh wait! The specs are pretty similar to the OPPO R7 Plus, which we reviewed before. The ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser (ZE601KL) indeed is one of the best buy smartphones you can buy right now.
