It’s CES 2017 and ASUS has officially announced two new Zennovative ZenFones — ZenFone 3 Zoom and ZenFone AR.
ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom
The ZenFone 3 Zoom is a 5.5-inch device that comes with dual-camera setup. It sports a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display covered by a Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Powering the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor with 4GB RAM and up to 128GB internal storage.
Like the iPhone 7 Plus, the ZenFone 3 Zoom comes with two cameras on its back — one with a f/1.7-aperture, 25mm wide-angle lens and another one with a 59mm lens. Users can instantly switch from the 25mm primary camera to the 59mm camera, giving them a 2.3x optical zoom that is perfect for portraits and capturing distant subjects. The device also comes with an improved TriTech autofocus system — Dual Pixel PDAF, subject tracking autofocus, and second-generation laser focus.
Instead of using PixelMaster technology, the ZenFone 3 Zoom is the first ASUS smartphone with SuperPixel camera technology that enables it to focus incredibly quickly and capture clear photos at night or in low-light environments. ASUS claims that this technology enables the camera on ZenFone 3 Zoom to have 2.5-times (2.5x) greater light sensitivity than Apple iPhone 7 Plus and 10-times (10x) that of an average smartphone.
Despite having a thin 7.9mm full-metal body and weighing at just 170g, the ZenFone 3 Zoom does pack a 5,000mAh battery, which claims to provide up to 6.4 hours of continuous 4K UHD video on a single charge.
ASUS ZenFone AR
The ZenFone AR is a next-generation smartphone that represents a significant advance in mobile virtual-reality (VR) and augmented-reality (AR) technologies. It is the first smartphone that will be Tango-enabled and Daydream-ready.
The device is also the world’s first smartphone with 8GB RAM, powered by a Snapdragon 821 processor. It sports a 5.7-inch WQHD Super AMOLED display covered by a Corning Gorilla Glass 4.
Being the thinnest and lightest Tango-enabled device at just 8.95mm thick and weighs 170g, the device comes with ASUS TriCam system — a 23MP f/2.0 camera, motion tracking camera, and a depth-sensing camera. There’s also an 8MP f/2.0 front-facing camera if you wish to take selfies with this phone.
Juicing up the device is a 3,300mAh non-removable battery with Quick Charge 3.0 supported. The device is running on the latest Android Nougat on top of its ZenUI.
