ASUS has given the media a special preview of company’s new tablet today. We were informed that the ZenPad 7 will be launched at ASUS media roadshow on the 26th of August 2015 at Mid Valley. Good news for all our readers, this will be a public launch event so everybody is invited to come.
Intel on the consumer event are still scarce at this point in time, but more info would soon be forthcoming. Most importantly, this event will go on from the 26th to the 30th of August 2015. It would be a smart bet to see the Zenfone Selfie and Zenfone Go be revealed there as well, due to them making a sly appearance in the SIRIM database as of late.
As for its technical might, the ZenPad 7 has a 7-inch 1,280 x 800 IPS display, an Intel Atom x3-C3230 quad-core processor which is mated with 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal memory (which is further expandable with a microSD card up to 128 GB), and 3G connectivity.
The heart of the ZenPad 7 is a 13 Whr battery which provides up to 8 hours of battery life, an 8 MP rear camera, a 2 MP selfie snapper, and the device also runs Android 5.0 Lollipop with the company’s own ZenUI right out of the box.
Besides these specifications, what sets the ZenPad 7 apart is the fact that it can be customized with functional back covers which can be changed and customized according to the user’s whims and fancies (the first phablet to do so, according to ASUS). Besides the rainbow of back covers, ASUS Malaysia has also demonstrated the Audio Cover, which provides ‘immersive 5.1 channel surround sound’. We were very impressed with the sound quality and volume offered by this accessory, and ASUS has proudly announced that a price will be shown at its road show.
To our dismay, ASUS has yet to announce a retail price for the ZenPad 7. They have said however that all will be revealed at their upcoming roadshow at Mid Valley on the 26th to the 30th of August. We are certainly be looking forward to what else the Taiwanese company has in store for us.
