Designed to bridge the gap between PC and console gaming, these handhelds combine high-performance hardware with Xbox-optimized software, delivering a seamless gaming experience on the go.
Both devices feature a completely redesigned chassis with a focus on comfort and control. The gamepad-style grip, textured palm rests, and contoured edges ensure a natural, fatigue-free hold during long gaming sessions. The premium Ally X model takes immersion further with advanced impulse triggers, offering precise haptic feedback that enhances gameplay responsiveness, particularly in action-packed titles.
ROG and Xbox have developed a custom software interface that launches directly into a full-screen Xbox dashboard while maintaining full Windows 11 functionality. This unique approach gives players instant access to Xbox Game Pass libraries, Game Bar widgets, and joystick-optimized navigation, while still supporting PC gaming staples like mods, emulators, and third-party platforms such as Steam or Epic Games Store.
The base ROG Xbox Ally is equipped with the energy-efficient AMD Ryzen Z2 A Processor, ideal for balanced performance and battery life. The Ally X steps up with the flagship AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme Processor, featuring an integrated NPU to support emerging AI-powered gaming features. Both devices leverage AMD’s cutting-edge graphics technologies, including FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) for enhanced visuals, Radeon Super Resolution (RSR) for optimized performance, and AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) for smoother frame rates.
The Ally X addresses one of the biggest pain points of handheld gaming with its substantial 60Wh battery, enabling longer playtimes for graphically intensive titles without constant recharging. This makes it an ideal choice for gamers who demand both power and portability.
