Well, well, well, the wait is over! The ASUS ROG Phone has been officially announced at Computex 2018 in Taiwan! Built for gamers, the phone packs the world’s fastest speed-binned 2.96GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with up to 8GB RAM and 512GB storage.
The phone sports a 6-inch 18:9 Full HD+ AMOLED display that has a refresh rate of 90Hz as well as supporting HDR. Additionally, it also comes with two ultrasonic AirTrigger touch sensors, which are fully programmable. ASUS has also enhanced the haptic feedback for a better gaming experience.
The back of the phone has an illuminated ROG logo, which features ASUS Aura RGB lighting. The lighting effect can be triggered when you receiving phone calls, notifications, and more.
Furthermore, the phone also comes with the front-facing stereo speakers that support 24-bit/192kHz Hi-Res Audio playback.
In terms of camera, the phone comes with a dual-camera setup on the back — 12MP primary + 8MP wide-angle. Selfie wise, there’s an 8MP front-facing shooter.
Juicing up the device is a 4,000mAh battery. The phone comes with two ports — one on the side, another one at the bottom. The side one is actually a custom USB-C port with USB 3.1 Gen 1/DisplayPort 1.4/Quick Charge 3.0/4.0 and PD3.0 (15W). The bottom one is just the regular USB-C port for charging.
Accessories
Since it comes with an overclocked processor, the phone will need a good cooling system. The phone comes with the GameCool 3D vapor-chamber cooling system for effective heat dissipation. The detachable external AeroActive Cooler is a cooling accessory beyond extended gameplay.
The TwinView Dock comes with a screen, which allows you to do another thing while playing a game on another screen. The dock also comes with a left and right trigger buttons.
The Mobile Desktop Dock lets you game with the phone using your wide-screen monitor or TV. It comes with multiple ports so that you can connect to your keyboard and mouse, or even the Ethernet connection.
The GameVice Controller and the WiGig Dock transform your phone into a portable console with a full inventory of physical gaming controls and ultra-low-latency wireless display connectivity for a seamless big-screen gaming experience that’s perfect for group viewing.
Unfortunately, ASUS hasn’t unveiled the pricing and availability of the phone in Malaysia yet. We guess the company will bring in limited units if they have decided to sell it in Malaysia.
