ASUS ROG Phone 3 Officially Announced

Last year, we reviewed the ROG Phone II, no doubt a phone with great battery life. Guess what? The gaming phone is back! The ASUS ROG Phone 3 is now official, powered by the latest Snapdragon 865 Plus processor with 144Hz/1 ms AMOLED display, and monster 6,000mAh battery.

This time around, the ROG Phone 3 comes with two variants — the regular one and the Strix Edition, just some differences between both variants. The phone sports a 6.6-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a 270Hz touch-sampling rate.

The ROG Phone 3 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus processor with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. It’s the first mobile chip to have its CPU hit 3.09 GHz. The Strix Edition has a Snapdragon 865 processor, though, with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.

In terms of camera, the ROG Phone 3 has a triple-camera setup on the back — 64MP Sony IMX686 main + 13MP ultra-wide + 5MP macro camera. Selfie wise, it has a 24MP f/2.0 front-facing shooter. Obviously those who purchase this phone won’t really care about its cameras, but ASUS still includes features like 8K video recording and HyperSteady Video mode.

The phone loses the 3.5mm audio jack, but you can have it on the AeroActive Cooler 3 accessory, which should be bundled together in the box. It still has the dual-front stereo speakers, one of the best in its class. It also comes with the upgraded AirTrigger 3, which provides extra-precise ultrasonic touch controls along the edges of the phone. The gesture capabilities of the AirTrigger 3 side sensors have been further enhanced, including a newly added swipe gesture and dual-partition button emulation, giving gamers a console-level gaming experience. There’s also a brand-new motion sensor that adds another gesture to the armory, allowing gamers to control the action by shaking the device: it’s a whole new way to interact with the device.

Additionally, the phone packs a 6,000mAh battery, which also supports 30W fast charging. ASUS claims that a 46-minute charge will push 4,510mAh into the battery, achieving a 70% charge.

As usual, the phone also comes with a bunch of accessories, such as the Screen Protector, Aero Case, Neon Aero Case, ROG Lighting Armor Case, AeroActive Cooler 3, ROG Clip, ROG Kunai 3 Gamepad, and TwinView Dock 3.

The ROG Phone 3 series will be available in Malaysia from September 2020 onwards. The prices will be very close to the previous ROG Phone 2 variants. There will be three variants coming:
