Apple has unveiled an update to its MacBook Air lineup, introducing three key enhancements: a new chip, a fresh color option, and an improved front camera.
The latest MacBook Air models are now equipped with Apple’s newest M4 chip, which debuted last year in the iMac and Mac mini. This chip boasts 10 CPU cores and either 8 or 10 GPU cores, depending on the configuration. According to Apple, the M4 chip delivers 1.6x faster performance in Excel, 2x faster performance in iMovie, and 2x faster performance in Adobe Photoshop compared to the M1 models.
The M4 chip also brings additional features, such as enhanced external display support. The new MacBook Air can now connect to up to two 6K external displays at 60Hz, doubling the capability of the previous generation.
A new color option, Sky Blue, has been added to the MacBook Air lineup. This metallic light blue shade “creates a dynamic gradient when light reflects off its surface,” joining the existing Midnight, Starlight, and Silver color choices.
Additionally, the updated MacBook Air features a 12MP Center Stage camera, also found in MacBook Pro models. This camera offers higher-resolution images while maintaining 1080p video capture. The ultra-wide focal length supports the Center Stage feature, which keeps the subject centered in the frame as you move around, and the Desk View feature, which captures both you and a perspective-corrected view of your desk.
Aside from these updates, the 2025 MacBook Air retains the same design, dimensions, display, keyboard, trackpad, memory and storage options, speakers, and microphone array as its predecessor. The new model does feature a slightly larger 53.8Wh battery compared to the previous 52.6Wh unit, though battery life remains unchanged.
The M4 MacBook Air is available in 13-inch and 15-inch sizes, with starting prices reduced to RM4,499 for the 13-inch model (from RM5,199) and RM5,499 for the 15-inch model (from RM6,199).
