Apple has officially refreshed its 14-inch MacBook Pro with the brand-new M5 chip, following a teaser earlier.
The latest M5 MacBook Pro 14″ promises significant performance gains over the outgoing M4 model. It features a 10-core CPU with four performance cores and six efficiency cores, paired with an all-new 10-core GPU that integrates a Neural Accelerator in each core. Apple claims the M5 delivers 3.5x faster AI performance compared to the M4 and up to 6x faster than the M1 generation. It also offers a 20% boost in multithreaded performance and a 30% increase in memory bandwidth, now at 153GB/s, powered by a 16-core Neural Engine.
Battery life is another major highlight — the new model can last up to 24 hours on a single charge, thanks to M5’s efficiency optimizations. It still houses the same 72.4Wh battery as before and includes a 70W USB-C power adapter in the box.
Aside from the chip upgrade, the rest of the hardware remains unchanged. You still get a 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display (3,024 × 1,964) with 120Hz ProMotion, 1,600 nits peak HDR brightness, and a 12MP Center Stage webcam.
Connectivity options include MagSafe charging, three Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI, SDXC card slot, and a 3.5mm headphone jack, with wireless connectivity via Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.
The new 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 will be available soon through apple.com/my/store, the Apple Store app, and Apple Authorised Resellers. Prices start at RM6,999, or RM6,569 with education savings. It comes in Space Black and Silver finishes.
