Apple has just unveiled the brand new iMac with many color options and the M1 chip, which is available in seven different hues — green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver.
The new iMac is powered by Apple’s ARM-based chip (M1), with eight CPU cores and 7 or 8 GPU cores, depending on which configuration you pick. The computer is only 11.5mm thick and it sports a 23.5-inch 4.5K Retina Display with 11.3 million pixels, 500 nits of maximum brightness, P3 1B color support, and True Tone technology.
Additionally, the new iMac also comes with upgrades such as a 1080p webcam, six speakers built-in, including two pairs of force-canceling woofers, supporting spatial audio with Dolby Atmos, and a three-mic array of “studio quality”.
It has two Thunderbolt ports and Wi-Fi 6. The more expensive variant offers two additional USB-C ports and also has a 1Gbps Ethernet port. The power cord now attaches to the computer magnetically, a bit like MagSafe.
Apple now also offers a color-matched Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Magic Mouse. The keyboard has a dedicated security chip that communicates directly with the Secure Enclave in the M1, creating an end-to-end encrypted channel for your fingerprint data.
According to Apple Malaysia, the new iMac retails at RM5,599 for the 8-core CPU and 7-core GPU model. As for the 8-core CPU and 8-core GPU model, it is priced at RM6,449 (256GB storage) and RM7,249 (512GB storage).
