MWC 2016: Sony reveals the new Xperia X Series

Sony has unveiled their new lineup Xperia X series at Mobile World Congress 2016. The new X series features a similar design and screen size, but each variant is slightly different unlike the Xperia Z series.

The new Xperia X series consists of three models; Xperia XA, Xperia X and the Xperia X Performance

Sony Xperia XA

The Xperia XA is the entry-level model which is powered by a MediaTek Helio P10 (MT6755) chipset and mated with 2 GB of RAM and has 16 GB of internal storage with a dedicated MicroSD card slot. It sports a 5-inch 720p resolution display and features aluminium frame.

It integrated with a 13 MP rear camera and 5 MP front-facing camera. Keeping the phone going is a 2,300 mAh battery.

Sony Xperia X & Xperia X Performance

Next up is the Xperia X, the middle option in the series. It features an aluminium body and sports a 5-inch Full HD display and also fingerprint reader integrated into the power button like the Xperia Z5. Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor and mated with 3 GB of LPDDR3 RAM as well as 32 GB expandable storage.

As for the Xperia X Performance, it souped up with a flagship SoC — the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820. It paired with 3 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 32 GB of expandable storage. It also feature a 5-inch Full HD display and uses aluminium body frame.

Camera wise, both uses Sony’s latest 4th generation EXMOR sensor that comes with a 23 MP rear camera and an improved 13 MP front-facing camera.

The Xperia X smartphone packs a 2,620 mAh battery where the Xperia X Performance is slightly larger at 2,700 mAh capacity.

All the new Xperia X series comes with four colors including White, Graphite Black, Lime Gold & Rose Gold. All members of the Xperia X series will be running Android 6.0 Marshmallow right out of the box.
