Samsung Galaxy Note7 goes official with IP68 water and dust resistance

As expected Samsung has finally announced the Galaxy Note7. Instead of calling the Galaxy Note6, the Note7 features dual-edge curve Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on its front and rear. The curved screen lets the Galaxy Note7 add the powerful Edge Panel for one-tap user access to applications, news and functions.

The Samsung Galaxy Note7 sports a 5.7-inch Quad HD dual edge Super AMOLED display, resulting a pixel density of 518ppi. Under the hood is an Exynos 8890 octa-core processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. Like the Galaxy S7/S7 edge, the Note7 now comes with MicroSD card for storage expansion up to 256GB. The device is IP68 certified for water and dust resistance too.

Samsung has also improved the Note7’s S Pen, you can just drop down everything without unlocking the screen by using Screen off memo, you can pin the memo to the Always On Display as well. The new S Pen now allows you to create and share GIF animations with Smart Select. Additionally, the new Air Command lets you to zoom in on the screen or convert languages with a simple hover of the S Pen. And guess what? You are able to jot down your thoughts using the S Pen without interruption, even when the screen gets wet.

Like the Galaxy S7/S7 edge, the Galaxy Note7 comes with the same 12MP f/1.7 camera with dual-pixel technology. The device packs a 3,500mAh battery and can be charged quickly via the USB Type-C port, wireless charging is available as well.

Samsung also introduces its own cloud service — Samsung Cloud, which features Smart Switch that supports a seamless device experience by providing continuous backup and easy transfer of content including data, apps, settings and layouts between devices. All Galaxy Note7 users will receive free 15GB storage to store and restore information on Samsung Cloud.

Fingerprint sensor is a little bit too common for flagship nowadays, the Galaxy Note7 now even comes with an iris scanner, which also allows you to access Samsung Pay for quick and easy mobile payments.

The new Galaxy Note7 also comes with Samsung Knox, which provides heightened security and privacy, with highly advanced biometric authentication, including fingerprint scanner and iris scanning technology. With Secure Folder, a separated folder that adds an extra layer of authentication to keep private and personal information safe.

The Samsung Galaxy Note7 will arrive Malaysia on 19th August at the price of RM3,199, with three color options available — Black Onyx, Gold Platinum and Silver Titanium. Online pre-order will start from 8th to 10th August where 4,000 units will be available for order.
