Owned an OPPO R7s but wanted to have the latest Android version? Good news for you — OPPO has released a Marshmallow-based beta of Project Spectrum for the R7s.
In case you don’t know about Project Spectrum, it is is an official alternative to OPPO’s ColorOS, offering a near-stock Android experience while preserving some of the best-loved features of ColorOS.
The Project Spectrum beta for the R7s runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, which features the battery-saving Doze Mode and Google Now on Tap. OPPO has also retained some features from ColorOS — customizable screen-off gestures (double tap to toggle wake/sleep modes, draw a circle to start the camera app, etc.), support for VOOC Flash Charge, OPPO’s camera app, and more.
To install the beta, you’ll need to head over to the OPPO Community website. The Project Spectrum previously was released to the Find 7, R5 and the R7g (available in Taiwan, Australia and Singapore). As for the R7 Plus, it will be available on the 13th of May.
So, will it void your warranty? Well, make sure you consult the local reseller for detailed information about warranty policies.
