MWC 2017: Huawei Watch 2 Goes Official

Besides the P10 series, Huawei also officially announced the Watch 2 — a watch combines the connectivity of a smartphone, the smarter living applications of a premium smartwatch and the detailed performance coaching and tracking of a leading sports tracking device, all in the form of a stylish classical wristwatch.

The new Watch 2 inherits the classic design of the original Watch, but Huawei has added more innovations into the smartwatch. It has a 1.2-inch AMOLED display with the resolution of 390 x 390 and powering the watch is a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor with 768MB RAM and 4GB internal storage.

The Watch 2 comes in two variants — Watch 2 and Watch 2 Classic. The regular Watch 2 is made of mixed plastics, while the Watch 2 Classic is made of 316L Stainless Steel and plastics.

There’s a 4G version as well, which means you can leave your phone at home and go running or do other stuff while staying connected. You can also respond to calls and text messages, use independent apps like Uber and Telegram with just the watch. Additionally, the watch also supports VoLTE and dual-mic noise elimination to ensure a stable and clear telephone experience while the integration of the antennae on the upper watch case for dual 4G, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC in the device significantly strengthens connectivity. There will also be an eSIM version, but only available to limited countries.

The smartwatch is also a fitness tracking device, it uses multiple sensors with advanced algorithms to provide fitness solutions. The built-in smart sensors will collect comprehensive data on user activity, including distance, speed, steps, heart rate, heart rate range, calories, gait, route and more.

What’s more? The watch also comes with built-in GPS that tracks your exercise route. You can also add music through the Google Play Music app.

The new Huawei Watch 2 is running on Android Wear 2.0, which is compatible with devices running on Android 4.3 or later and iOS 8.2 or later. Its 420mAh battery is said able to last for up to two days with regular use.

Huawei also partnered with Porsche Design to announce the new Porsche Design Huawei Watch 2. It is the first ever smartwatch to be created by Porsche Design and Huawei stated that there will be more Porsche Design smart devices coming in the future.
