Huawei Mate 8 officially announced

Huawei announced the Mate 8 in China, which is said to be the company’s “most advanced flagship smartphone.”

The device sports a 6″ Full HD IPS display with 368 ppi pixel density. Under the hood is the company’s latest Kirin 950 processor with four Cortex-A72 cores and four Cortex-A53 cores, clocking at 2.3 GHz and 1.8 GHz respectively.

The Mate 8 also comes with an i5 coprocessor which supports peech recognition, low-power consumption MP3, all the functions of a sensor hub, fused location provider (FLP) navigation, and reduces location-based power consumption.

Camera wise, the Mate 8 has a 16 MP Sony IMX298 rear camera with three-axis OIS, and an 8 MP front camera. The device is capable of 1080p video recording as well as 720p slow-mo video recording at 120 fps.

Huawei Mate 8_4

The Mate 8 packs a large 4,000 mAh battery. The device will be available in 3 GB/32 GB, 4 GB/64 GB, and 4 GB/128 GB variants, with Champagne Gold, Moonlight Silver, Space Gray, and Mocha Brown color options.

The Huawei Mate 8 is currently available in China only. As for the international availability details, Huawei will announce at CES in January next year.
