TCL Communication today officially unveiled the BlackBerry KEYone at MWC 2017. Formerly known as the Mercury DTEK70, the KEYone is the first smartphone announced under the new brand and device-licensing strategy.
The KEYone sports a 4.5-inch IPS scratch-resistant display with the resolution of 1,620 x 1,080, that’s 3:2 aspect ratio. Powering the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage.
The physical keyboard is back, which provides more flexibility and usable space for typing compared to your everyday smartphone. It also mimics the heritage of the BlackBerry trackpad by responding to touch gestures, making web browsing, reading, and writing with flick typing a much easier and more intuitive experience.
In terms of camera, the KEYone has a 12MP large pixel rear camera which is capable of 4K video recording and an 8MP front-facing camera for selfie duty.
The device is running on Android 7.1 Nougat with BlackBerry Hub that brings all your messages, emails and social media accounts in one app. Juicing up the device is a 3,505mAh battery, which supports Quick Charge 3.0.
The device will be available globally in April at the price of under $549 USD. Unfortunately, there’s no news regarding its availability in Malaysia yet.
