Apple unveils 12.9″ iPad Pro and iPad mini 4

Apple has just officially unveiled two new iPads – the iPad Pro and the iPad mini 4. The iPad Pro is the biggest and most powerful iPad that Apple has ever built. It comes with a 12.9″ display with 2,732 x 2,048 pixels resolution, which has the same pixel density as the iPad Air 2 (264 ppi).

The new display is capable of variable fresh rate, which should improve the battery life. Apple has also announced the new accessory called Apple Pencil. The Apple Pencil is an active stylus specially designed for the iPad Pro.

Powering the iPad Pro is a brand new A9x chip, which offers twice the memory bandwidth of the A8x, twice the flash storage speed, 1.8x better overall performance and twice the GPU processing power.

The iPad Pro comes with an 8 MP iSight camera as well as a HD FaceTime camera. Apple claims that the iPad Pro has a promised battery life of 10 hours.

For the first time, the iPad Pro comes with four speaker system, which provides better audio experience.

Besides the Apple Pencil, Apple has also announced the Smart Keyboard, which is an external keyboard specially for the iPad Pro. All you need to do is just attach your iPad Pro with it via the new magnetic smart connector.

The new iPad Pro measures at 6.9 mm thin and weighs 712 g. Like the iPad Air 2, it comes with Touch ID fingerprint sensor. The slate runs on iOS 9 by default and it supports picture-in-picture and spilt screen view. It will be available in Silver, Space Gray and Gold colors with 32 GB and 128 GB storage options. The LTE model is only available in 128 GB model only though.

As for the iPad mini 4, Apple hasn’t revealed much about it. However, Apple did reveal that it is now replacing the iPad mini 3 and it’s a downsized iPad Air 2.
